...in which, after his parents' sudden deaths, Lord Alex Guinard recognizes Princess Sophia's patience as true love all along....

SFR Brigade Presents:  a snippet from FEALTY, Book Three of the To Be Sinclair series by Eva Caye

Sophia touched his face in wonder.  “Was that a marriage proposal you slipped in there?”

“Yes.”  Alex kissed her hand.  “I want you to be my wife.  You’ve seen me at my worst.  Now I want to show you my best.  Forever.”  He moved to burrow with her again beneath the covers, where they simply caressed each other in silence.

Alex interpreted Sophia’s speechlessness as uncertainty.  After an entire year of listening to his doubts, she probably feared to take advantage of his desperate new need to anchor himself in the world, his roots torn violently from the ground.  “Please, marry me.  I want you by my side forever.”  He stroked her from the crown of her head, down her streaming black hair, across her back to her derrière, and up her torso to cup her face, imagining he could gather all the lavish energy of her spirit and focus it there, just so his kisses might convey more meaning to her essence, her élan, her soul.

She drew her leg over his hip, and then she engaged him.  “You mean, like this?”

He gave her his most tender kiss.  “Yes.  One together.  Forever.”

She finally smiled sweetly and kissed him in return, eyes glistening. “Yes.  Forever.”
