face in his hand. “I can put you on a pedestal because, after all, who else in
the galaxy can be put on a pedestal? You’re beautiful and brilliant and a
princess of the most glorious empire there is. You hold the secrets of a
mysterious and powerful science. You are it, Anne. You are the
reason pedestals exist.”

I would say "I tortured her" except I basically 'scribe the visions' as they come to me -- and the characters act them out until I do! I am soooo not their goddess! But somehow I think there's a wormhole in my brain to a parallel future dimension....

Yes, he's devoted ... but I can't help but envision conflict arising around that whole 'pedestal' thing!
Since this is a snippet from the sixth book, the mysterious and powerful science may already be known. That intrigues me, though!
The science was introduced in book two, MAJESTY; Anne's mother created a way to open wormholes between different star volumes, and calls them stargates. She's kept the knowledge absolutely secret, but has trained Anne and 3 of her brothers (described in book five, DYNASTY). I'm doing my final rewrites of both DYNASTY and LOYALTY; hope to have them out within a couple of months!
